ELA Group Co-sponsors the Beatty Arbor Day Celebration
During the week of May 1, 2006, fifty-five wonderful ClearWater volunteers planted nearly 800 native trees and shrubs along the headwaters of Spring Creek at the
State College Elk Club golf course. This project is part of our Riparian Conservation
Program and restored over 700 linear feet of streamside buffer in this impaired
segment of Spring Creek.
This year's event was co-sponsored by ELA Group, Inc., Engineers & Landscape
Architects, and SPE Federal Credit Union.
Funding support also comes from the NiSource Environmental Challenge Fund,
the PA Department of Environmental Protection Growing Greener grant program,
the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, Western Pennsylvania Watershed Program.
Some plant material was donated by Blackhawk Homestead Nursery and the Chesapeake
Bay Foundation. Design services were donated by Ken Tamminga of the PSU Department
of Landscape Architecture; planning and coordination was led by volunteer Louise
Comas. Special thanks to the State College Elks Club and golf course superintendent

Team ELA in Multiple Sclerosis Walk 2006
ELA Group, an Engineering and Landscape Architectural firm located in Lititz, will be lacing up their sneakers to get fit and make a difference at the Christopher & Banks 2006 MS Walk. They will be coming out to support the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society for the first time, with a team of thirty-five participants and a goal of raising $5,000. Team captain Lori Bomboy says they are looking forward to the Walk as an opportunity for everyone to get in shape and become closer as colleagues as they come together as a unit to raise money for the National MS Society.
Lori and the team will be following the four-mile route in Lancaster, leaving from the Quality Inn & Suites and circling through scenic countryside. There are rest stops located along the route, and a celebratory lunch donated by our sponsors awaits walkers at the finish line. There is no minimum pledge or registration fee to participate, however, we encourage walkers to raise funds for the National MS Society
The Central PA Chapter of the National MS Society has set a goal of raising $1 million in 2006. The MS Walk is the National MS Society's largest fundraising events. The dollars raised by the Walk each year go toward research for treatment for nearly half a million people living with the devastating effects of MS. For more than 50 years, the Society has provided hope and help for Americans with MS through its national research and client programs.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, unpredictable neurological disease. MS can cause blurred vision, loss of balance, poor coordination, slurred speech, tremors, numbness, extreme fatigue, problems with memory and concentration, paralysis, and blindness. These problems may be permanent or they may come and go. Most people with MS are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50. The unpredictable physical and emotional effects continue the rest of their lives.
Studies show that early and ongoing treatment with an FDA-approved therapy can reduce future disease activity and improve quality of life for many people with multiple sclerosis. Talk to your health care professional and contact the National MS Society at www.nationalmssociety.org or 1-800-FIGHT-MS to learn about ways to help manage multiple sclerosis and about current research that may one day reveal a cure.
For more information about MS, the MS Walk, or to walk, volunteer, or sponsor someone in the MS Walk, please call the Central Pennsylvania Chapter of the National MS Society at 1-800-227-2108 or visit nationalmssociety.org/pac.
