Project Description
Anticipated to be opened by September 2004, the East High School/Fugett Middle School Athletic Complex was developed by the West Chester Area School District to meet the growing demand for athletic facilities that could no longer be accommodated on the existing High School/Middle School Campus located adjacent along Ellis Lane. The 43-acre site, of which approximately 20-acres is floodplain and wetland, the School District is constructing three (3) competition baseball fields, masonry dugouts, one (1) softball field, and three (3) multi-purpose fields (overlay fields). All athletic fields include potable water service, irrigation service (hydrants), electronic score boards, fencing, benches, and bleachers/seating areas. Other improvements also include a 4,000 sf field house with public restrooms and covered pavilion, parking areas, bus/passenger vehicle drop area, irrigation, walkways, utility services, storm drainage, and landscaping improvements. The project also includes widening of the adjoining public roadway (Ellis Lane), construction of over 1,500 feet of segmental block retaining wall, and installation of an overhead pedestrian crossing warning flasher.
