Project Description
Suburban Park is a 12-acre neighborhood park in Ferguson Township. Existing amenities in the park include tennis courts, basketball court, baseball field, open plan areas and youth play structures. The facility is aging and the existing equipment is quickly becoming obsolete as newer safety standards are implemented on a statewide basis. Master planning initiatives were under taken by the Township to evaluate the existing park and amenities and to plan on future changes to the facility. The existing park has the potential to serve as a trailhead as it is adjacent to a bike trail that connects a multi-family neighborhood to Penn State Arboretum.
Services Rendered
ELA Group, Inc. provided services to evaluate the existing facilities and develop a Master Plan for the Park. Project meetings were held with Township Staff and Community meetings were held with the Neighborhood users of the facility. Coordination with Penn State was vital as the drainage flowing through the park impacts downstream property of Penn State. Four options were reviewed and a final Master Plan prepared and presented to the Township and Neighborhood.
