Project Description
Lancaster Newspapers is expanding their existing parking garage with the construction of a new sevenstory
parking structure located along South Prince Street, near the intersection of Vine Street. The
existing garage provides 365 parking spaces, while the new garage will provide an additional 407
spaces. This project is unique with the new garage remaining as a separate structure and
interconnecting at each level to the existing garage, providing access to all levels of both garages.
The architectural design of the garage along South Prince Street reflects a “storefront” appearance on
the first floor and upper levels feature false windows to mask the garage’s structural components. The
façade design was reviewed and accepted by the Lancaster Historic Commission. Site design was in
accordance with the City of Lancaster’s guidelines with brick pavers, historic lighting and landscaping to
enhance the overall appearance of the parking garage. ELA played an integral part on the construction
team to facilitate construction staging on South Prince Street for the crane and garage structure
deliveries, while keeping traffic flowing on this busy city street.
