Project Description
After a thorough feasibility
study involving collaboration with Warwick School District,
Lititz Borough, RLPS Architects and the community of Lititz,
site development planning began for this new 3-story elementary
school which replaced the existing on-site school. Located
in the heart of Lititz, a walkable community, the new design
maximized the School District's needs. The design enhanced
the character of the local neighborhood through architectural
style, urban site design, and the preservation of building
and site elements. Many site improvements were made to both
properties that comprise the facility including increased
daily and special event parking, improved site circulation,
streetscape improvements, play areas and outdoor instructional
areas. These features, with the addition of green space and
new storm water management controls, helped the School District
to be recognized by Lancaster County as a project that exemplifies
Smart Growth concepts and to receive Leadership recognition
under the 2004 Envision Smart Growth Award Program.
Services Rendered
ELA served as an integral part of the design team and participated in the preparation of the feasibility study and site design, followed by preparation of the zoning and land development plans, storm water management studies, and erosion and sedimentation control plans/NPDES permitting.
