Project Description
The Mennonite Central
Committee improvement and expansion program of its 8.5-acre
campus includes four housing "pods," future apartments, a
multi-level orientation center, accessible parking facilities
and pedestrian pathways, innovative storm water management
techniques, and non-traditional landscaping and site furnishings.
Storm water management control facilities utilized constructed
wetland areas and "Best Management Practices" to control and
renovate the storm water runoff. Topographic conditions, existing
woodlands and wetland areas and the location of the Campus
within an already established Akron Borough neighborhood challenged
the site design, calling for a "village context."
Services Rendered
ELA Group, Inc.'s services included design development plans to refine the preliminary site concept prepared by the project Architect; preparation of a Conditional Use application mandated by the Zoning Ordinance; preparation and representation of Land Development Plans and associated documentation. Services also included the preparation of plans, details, and technical specifications for the bidding and construction of the proposed improvements.
