As part of the school expansion and campus renovation project at the existing East High School Campus, a new tennis court complex was incorporated to support the middle school and high school tennis programs and provide additional physical education opportunity. The courts were designed in two batteries of four courts. Each court met project site constraints and were designed to feature a linear pedestrian courtyard between the two court batteries. This corridor also serves as a dramatic physical and visual connection between the athletic wing of the school and the main entry courtyard of the recently renovated stadium. Court complex improvements also included a "rebound" wall along the court perimeter that is constructed of ground/smooth face block, framed with decorative columns at each end that are adorned with a relief of a Viking, an image of the high school teams' namesake. Other improvements included concrete walkways, stairs for court access, a drinking fountain, and landscape beds. Each court battery is surrounded by vinyl-coated chain link fence and all net posts are installed in sleeves for ease of replacement and court maintenance.
In addition to providing engineering design services for the entire campus expansion project, ELA Sport provided all consulting, design, construction document preparation, and related services for the project, including municipal land development planning and stormwater management permitting.
