For many years, Grace United Church of Christ has envisioned the ability to inter the cremains of its departed members, congregants, and friends on its property. The church’s Memorial Garden Committee retained ELA Group, Inc. to develop plans for a Memorial Garden to serve as both a contemplative landscape and a place for the interment of cremains.
The Memorial Garden consists of a paver walkway, retaining wall used for seating, existing and new landscaping, and a memorial wall plaque upon which the names of the departed will be recorded.
The Memorial Garden, where cremains will be interred, includes the landscaped planting beds to the west/northwest of the connecting walkways and patio area.
Accessibility improvements were also included at the church’s front entrance, side, and rear doors.
Walkways connect the above-referenced doors, a patio, and a sidewalk to the Memorial Garden area and the church’s existing Peace Garden.
The project cost was $50,000.00 and was completed in May of 2014.
