ELA Group’s design for the expansion of the Lancaster Newspaper Parking Garage successfully met the requirements set by the Lancaster Historical Commission. The site design was per the city’s guidelines, using brick pavers, historic lighting, and landscaping to enhance the parking garage’s overall appearance.

ELA Group facilitated the successful coordination of construction staging, crane, and garage structure deliveries while maintaining smooth traffic flow on South Prince Street, Lancaster, PA, throughout the building process.

The expansion of the garage added 407 parking spaces to the existing 365. The project presented a unique engineering feat as the new garage remained a separate structure, yet interconnected at each level to the existing garage, allowing access to all levels of both garages.

The architectural design of the garage along South Prince Street reflects a “storefront” appearance on the first floor,r and upper levels feature false windows to mask the garage’s structural components. The façade design was reviewed and accepted by the Lancaster Historic Commission.
