ELA GROUP PROFESSIONALS VOLUNTEER AT BRIGHT SIDE STEM CAMP

What is an Engineer? That was the question Michelle Madzelan asked 30 energetic students attending the Bright Side STEM camp. Answering her own question, she said, “An engineer is me!”

Madzelan, is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), and a Senior Transportation Manager at ELA Group, Inc, based in Lititz, PA. She and a licensed landscape architect (RLA) from ELA Group, Hugh Cadzow, Principal and Project Manager, volunteered to teach, inform and inspire the students for “Engineering Day”.

The two week-long day camp, held at the Bright Side Opportunities Center in Lancaster, PA, was for students entering 5th through 8th grade, gave the students the opportunity to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering,

ELA GROUP CONGRATULATES WAYNE HUMMER, LL LEAGUE LACROSSE COACH OF THE YEAR

By day, Wayne Hummer works as an Account Manager at ELA Group, Inc. By night (and afternoon) Hummer is the Warwick High School boys lacrosse Head Coach, and this year, the Lancaster Lebanon League Coach of the Year in boys lacrosse.

Hummer has been coaching boys lacrosse for the past eight years, two at Lancaster Mennonite High School as an assistant and six at Warwick High School as the head coach. A player before a coach, Hummer played at Warwick, a Captain of the squad for its inaugural season (2003), and one season (2003-2004) at Elizabethtown College.

This is Hummers second stint as “Coach of the Year”. He received the honor for the 2014 season at Warwick as well.

ELA GROUP EXPANDS TEAM

ELA Group, Inc., Engineers and Landscape Architects, of Lititz, State College and Butler, PA is pleased to announce the addition of three employees to their team of Engineers and Landscape Architects.

Mr. Edward Ostrowski, a Registered Landscape Architect, joined the Lititz team of Landscape Architects as a Senior Project Manager. The Reinholds, PA resident brings 22 years of Civil Engineering and Landscape Architecture experience to the firm, with expertise in Project Management, SIT Design/Grading, Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, NNPDES Permitting and Landscape/Site Amenity Design.

Mr. Ostrowski earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from The Pennsylvania State University. He is also a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC),

GRANT W. HUMMER AND ELA GROUP DONATE TO HARMONY PLAYGROUND

As partner of ELA Group, an Engineering and Landscape Architectural firm, Grant W. Hummer, P.E. has been involved in many different types of projects in Warwick Township. As the Township Engineers for over 20 years, Hummer and ELA Group have reviewed and developed plans for many municipal and land development projects in the area. But Hummer, a Lititz resident for over 30 years, does much more than review plans. He is deeply involved in making plans and donating time and energy to projects that make Warwick Township a better place to live.

Over the past 35 years, Hummer has been on many boards and active in many associations including the YMCA, Lititz Community Center,

ELA GROUP WALKS FOR THE CAUSE

ELA Group, Inc. employees met for a Sunday walk, all for a good cause. Leading the group was Grant Hummer, President Emeritus of ELA Group, Inc. and a longtime supporter of the MS Society.

The walk is a major fundraiser for the MS Society nationwide. Participants walk to raise donations. This year the local walk had a 1 mile and a 5k option.

Actively involved in the MS Society for over 25 years, Hummer has been on the local MS Society board and is currently a member of the National MS Society Board.

Hummer and ELA Group also work with the MS Society during the Christmas season. The employees “adopt” a family that the MS Society is working with and donate Christmas gifts,

TYLER E. HILL EARNS PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSE

ELA Group, Inc. is pleased to announce that Tyler E. Hill has earned his Professional Engineer License from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Hill is a Project Engineer with the Engineering and Landscape Architectural firm.

Hill joined ELA Group in 2015 after graduating from The Pennsylvania State University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Engineering with a Natural Resources Option and minors in Environmental Engineering and Off-Road Equipment Engineering. He is also a 2008 Warwick High School graduate.

ELA GROUP 2017 LEADERSHIP CHANGES

In furthering ELA Group’s succession plan, during its Annual Board of Directors and Shareholders Meeting, the transition to its new leadership team was completed, when the following Officers were elected: Charles R. Haley, Jr., PE, President and Shawn H. Loose, Treasurer. Cheryl L. Love, RLA, was re-elected to continue in her role as Secretary.

In assuming the role of President, Mr. Haley replaces Grant W. Hummer, PE, who has served as ELA’s President since 1997. Mr. Hummer will continue with the firm, serving as President Emeritus.

As officers of a mid-sized firm, Haley, Hummer, Loose, and Love will also continue to fulfill their roles in the day-to-day operations and management of their respective disciplines: Civil Engineering,

ELA WELCOMES MICHELLE MADZELAN AS SENIOR TRANSPORTATION MANAGER

Please help ELA Group, Inc. welcome Michelle E. Madzelan of York as Senior Transportation Manager in our Traffic and Transportation Services Division. Credited with expertise as a Project Manager, project marketing and budget management, Michelle will focus on design and PennDOT permitting of community development projects, and transportation and highway improvement projects.

She graduated from the University of Dayton (OH), with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) in PA, MD, OH and VA. Michelle is a current events committee co-chair of the Central PA Engineers Week Council and current director of membership services and section CPEWC representative for the American Society of Civil Engineers, Central PA Section.

PROGRESS CONTINUES ON STATE HIGH PROJECT
